July 7, 2006 , Tastykake update.
Tastykake just got themselves added to my side search navigation. For those of you who need a refresher on what's going on with Tastykake, click here. June 19th, I wrote a letter stating how horrible that moldy Tastykake was to the Tasty Baking Company. June 23rd, I got a phone call from a representative stating they were sorry and they were sending out a care package 2 day FedEx. Which was nice. I wasn't expecting very much, but the moldy tasty kake was disgusting and made Pickle sick after eating it. Not to mention me from just smelling/looking at it. But then I got nothing until yesterday.
Yesterday I get this small package from ups ground:

What? That's less than the box of Tastykakes I purchased in the first place! Not to mention nothing in this package is appetizing whatsoever. What's more is that they blatantly ignored my e-mail and proceeded to blame Publix for the mess up:
"To insure the best quality of our product to the consumer, it is recommended that Tastykakes are to be enjoyed before the last day of code. Sometimes conditions beyond our control, such as improper temperatures affect the product. Also, our product should be removed by our Sales Distributors on the last day of the number code from the store."
Okay, that's acceptable. Unless you add the fact that I purchased this from Publix and the box had the stamp 6 24 on it. This is plenty of time before the date and I wrote this in my letter. I was going to post the picture of the moldy nastea-kake again in principal, but I'll spare you all for now. You can still click here to see it.
My next step is to wrap this all up and send it back to them with an even nastier note. I don't even want anything from them now. This package was an insult and I'm not going to eat Tastykakes anymore. Tastykakes have been a traditional birthday morning snack going back as far as I can remember. This year, we'll be starting a new tradition.
