August 20, 2008 , Barack Obama Picks Joe Biden, Vice President...
We don't have many contacts here, but we have developed a few relationships over the years. Today we got the call, "It's official, Biden is the guy."
It was announced today that: "The Illinois senator (Barack Obama) and his choice for vice president will appear in Springfield, Ill., at the former state Capitol where Abraham Lincoln once served on Saturday."
That man apparently will be Joe Biden. Said our source with the condition of anonymity, "What it really came down to is foreign relations. Barack wants to be president and wants someone who can handle Russia as his veep." They continued, "It's time to light some fire in this thing."
Not only are we "telling you so now," we already did last November. After posting his great campaign commercial here, Fat called it: "Sounds like the consensus pick for VP. - Fat"
Not a bad call either we say. For all appearances he's been a class character in his personal life and has years of international experience. Essentially he's been training for the number two spot for a long time. Biden also has a personal stake in Iraq as his son is about to begin serving a tour over there. While as a country we all have a stake, it's comforting to know that our leaders share our personal connections to war.
As for his first major decision, not a bad choice Mr. Obama.

He did call Obama "clean" last year, so that probably helped!
Seriously, this would not be a bad pick for Obama. Biden is experienced and adds gravitas to the ticket. - Fat |
It would be an interesting pick. Joe Biden on John McCain:
"The only guy on the other side who’s qualified is John McCain."
"John McCain is a personal friend, a great friend, and I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off, be well off no matter who...”
"I’ve been calling for more troops for over two years, along with John McCain and others subsequent to my saying that.” - Matthew Cochrane |

That didn't take very long. - TLM |

a joe biden presidential campaign video from 1988 that starts out saying:
"The White House isn't the place to learn how to deal with international crisis, the balance of power, war and peace, and the economic future of the next generation. A president has got to know the territory . . ."
interesting that the message in this video disqualifies obama - D. A. |
"That didn't take very long"
I'm sure if McCain picks someone like Romney it will take a long time for left-leaning columnists to come up with some reasons why that's a bad pick.
Seriously, I'm not so sure that Biden is the guy now. Besides all the reasons mentioned in the above comments, he also got busted in 1988 by Michael Dukakis for plagiarism in his primary speeches. With simialr charges brought up against Obama earlier this year by Hillary's campaign, it probably would not be a good idea for him to remind the public of his own past controversies. - Fat |

Oh man, that's awesome... I think I need to forward that link to Fox News!!! - Todd |
Damn, thanks DA... I'm such an ass. I just e-mailed that to all the big players on Fox News. I would send it to CNN, but I know they wouldn't care. I'll send it to Todd Schnitt too... - Todd |
Considering it's already on the Fox News Forums as posted above, I'm guessing they already know. - Pickle |
Awesome!!! - Todd |
I think Obama's going to pick IN Senator Evan Bayh. Then his campaign song could be N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye." - Fat |
Shoot, did you see Obama's new ad? A little ironic coming from the party of Kerry, isn't it? - Fat |
a little ironic that the man involved witht the rezcoe scandal wants to talk about houses - D. A. |
Honestly I don't like the ad, but not sure where the irony comes from? Democrats, as far as I know, weren't really complaining about the republicans calling Kerry rich. This is more of a you get what you dish kind of thing that I don't really care for.
How many houses does McCain own for real? He doesn't even know. So it's not ironic, it's what's good for the goose is good for the gander. He's so loaded he's out of touch. - TLM |
Hahaha...Yeah, McCain's the one who's "out of touch."
The irony comes from the fact that both parties have plenty of extremely rich people serving as politicians and that just last election the Democrats nominated one of the few who was probably richer than McCain. - Fat |
Oh okay, yea. and now the Democrats will be able to run that same ad from now until eternity :).
Not many are Kerry and McCain rich. I'm pretty sure most politicians, even as rich and evil as they are, can name the number of houses they own. - TLM |
As long as they keep their homes environmentally friendly and plant plenty of native trees on the property I'm all for owning as many houses as you can!!! - Todd |
"I'm pretty sure most politicians, even as rich and evil as they are, can name the number of houses they own."
Just like most politicians can remember which bills they voted for or against, especially before they start calling people liars who correctly stated how they voted. - Fat |
Dang, I should have said most politicians also know that there's fifty states. - Fat |
Obama's got a great campaign going: McCain's got lots of houses and and he's a a a cheater. Mwwwwahhhh. No fair.... - c |
The mudslinging has begun in earnest...This is going to be like any other election. McCain's response ad. - Fat |
is it a simple as picking who can run country different?, Obama could no stay true to his nice guy image and let a rich 70 plus year senator from Arizona tell us that he is much different than the other men that can vote themselves a raise but yet export our country. Let not forget that our President is clueless and Dick has been running the country the last 8 years, Oh..their probably okay with the oil crisis because it is not a crisis for them.
You probably do not have the man or women running for the $400,000 a year job, yet they make hordes of cash. It is about power, money and influence.
Popularity, Difference, Inexperience, Change
Unpopular, Experience, Same Policies, War Hero
hmmm...... - rb |
McCain's a cheater, huh? You dems are just whining cause your guy got smoked during that debate. o.k so if Mac cheated then how about Sen. Obama taking him up on his town hall meeting debate challenge instead of hiding behind the telepromter? - robert |
Your sources were right. It's Biden. - Stephen |
So was this just a guess or do you really have sources? - Just wondering |
TLM shoots. He scores. - c |
at least Biden's wife is attractive - c |
Bayh gets the consolation prize: Mrs. Edwards - c |
I want to know this because I have this

Obama picked Biden because Obama has VERY little experience at all, so he needed a VP that had a LOT of experience to make his ticket more appealing. Honestly though, I don't think it would make a difference. It seems many people voting for Obama don't even know that Biden is his presidential running mate. - Todd |
